The Minister of Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has highlighted the importance of the newly commissioned Spintex-Flower Pot Interchange in the Greater Accra Region, emphasizing its role in alleviating traffic congestion, promoting socio-economic development, and boosting economic activities.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on November 19, Asenso-Boakye stated, “The Flower Pot Interchange will enable seamless connectivity to key towns and areas, such as Osu, La, Cantonments, Chaado, East Legon, Adenta, and Madina, thereby stimulating economic activities and providing safer routes for commuters.”

He called on commuters and residents to take care of the interchange and use it responsibly.

The interchange is expected to improve traffic flow between areas such as Cantonments, Burma Camp, East Legon, Spintex, and Tema, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for residents in these regions.

In addition to easing traffic, the project includes a new road through the old tunnel at East Legon, an extra 200 meters of road connecting Cantonments from the Giffard Road interchange, a redesign of the Flower Pot roundabout, pedestrian walkways on each side of the flyover, and road furniture such as streetlights, road markings, and traffic signals.
