The Black Stars have retained their No. 46 spot in the latest world football rankings, which were released on Thursday amid a prolonged suspension of international matches due to the COVID-19 health crisis.

Belgium, who finished third in the 2018 World Cup in Russia, remain at the top of the FIFA rankings, ahead of world champions France.

Brazil are at No. 3, ahead of England in fourth spot.

The global football governing body said its latest World Ranking remained unchanged from the previous edition amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“Although club football has slowly restarted or been scheduled to restart in various leagues around the world, the spread of COVID-19 remains an obstacle to the staging of international matches,” FIFA said on its website.

In Africa, Senegal retains the top spot followed by Tunisia and Nigeria. Ghana remains 6th.

The team in 2015 celebrated advancing to the Africa Cup of Nations tournament for the ninth time after a successful qualifying campaign.

Akonnor, a former Black Stars captain, took over as manager to replace Kwesi Appiah in January after the national squad’s exit in round 16 of the Nations cup that took place in Egypt.
