Before the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primary in the Ejisu Constituency scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2024, former Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has reportedly been hospitalized.
Mr. Nyantakyi, one of nine candidates contesting the election, “went off” while in a meeting with his lieutenants at Akyawkrom, a suburb of Ejisu, on Friday evening, according to multiple reports.
Allegedly, he started to stumble with his hand on his head before being supported and promptly transported to a hospital, where he was spotted receiving treatment.
A picture of a frail-looking Kwesi Nyantakyi lying on a hospital bed with a drip on him has since been sighted by GhanaWeb.
Today marks the NPP’s parliamentary primary, with preparations fully underway.
Following the untimely passing of MP John Kumah on March 7, 2024, this primary takes on added significance.
On April 6, the vetting committee completed the clearance process for all nine aspirants competing for candidacy in the Ejisu Constituency.

Among these contenders are Kwabena Boateng, Dr. Evans Duah, Klinsman Karikari Mensah, Helena Mensah, and Jacqueline Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey.
Additionally, Portia Baffoe Abronye, Kwesi Nyantakyi, Aaron Prince Duah, and Yaa Akyawmaa Aboagye are in the running.
Looking ahead, the Electoral Commission (EC) has set the by-election for April 30, 2024.Aged 45, John Kumah passed away after a short sickness, leaving his wife and six kids behind.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has not shown any interest in joining the by-election.
They are still deciding whether to take part in the electoral race. In the meantime, Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a past Member of Parliament for the region, has decided to run as an independent candidate in the forthcoming election.
