Nana Kay, a member of the NPP’s Communications team, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama, stating that he is not suitable to lead the country.
Nana Kay thinks that Mr. Mahama’s desire for a grace period from labor unions shows he’s unready for the presidency.
Mr. Mahama responded by defending himself, explaining that he refrained from making promises because the Akufo-Addo government had depleted the country’s finances.
At a ‘Campus Connect’ event in Hohoe, the NDC flagbearer acknowledged Ghana’s financial challenges, stating that the country was broke.
He pleaded that upon assuming office, they be given a honeymoon period to put measures in place to revive the economy.
Addressing the teacher unions, he cautioned them that in 2025, when they assume control, they will reveal the nation’s financial records and can then consider their requests again.
This cautious approach to promises reflects his awareness of the country’s crisis.

During an interview with Wontumi FM, Nana Kay voiced skepticism regarding Mr Mahama’s preparedness for the presidency, questioning the logic of hiring someone who pleads for a job yet insists on a grace period for adjustment.
He asserted that Mr Mahama’s actions were merely an attempt to assert authority through words, emphasizing the importance of action over talk.
Nana Kay urged the dismissal of Mr Mahama and advocated for Dr. Bawumia, stating that a vote for him would be a vote for a proactive leader.
Stressing the need for swift action rather than a honeymoon period for the president-elect, he concluded by highlighting Ghana’s economic challenges.
