Francis-Xavier Sosu, the Member of Parliament for Madina and legal representative for the 32 detained Democracy Hub protesters, has strongly condemned their prosecution, calling it a “charade of justice” and a calculated effort to frustrate young activists.

In an interview on Eyewitness News on Thursday, Sosu expressed grave concerns regarding the treatment of the demonstrators, who were arrested while exercising their right to protest.
“Let’s call a spade a spade. What happened was a charade of justice and a deliberate attempt to frustrate young people who are concerned and want their voices heard by those in authority,” he stated.
He further emphasized the presumption of guilt placed on the protesters, referencing his book, Guilty Until Proven Innocent, to highlight the systemic issues involved.
Sosu accused the police and state authorities of repeatedly violating citizens’ rights to demonstrate, asserting, “The police are consistently, or the state is using the police continually, to infringe upon the rights of citizens who have a right to protest.”
