Former Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard has been appointed head coach of Coventry City on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The 46-year-old steps in to lead the Sky Blues, who are currently 17th in the Championship, just two points above the relegation zone. Lampard replaces Mark Robins, who was dismissed earlier this month after seven years in charge.

This is the first managerial appointment made by club owner Doug King since acquiring Coventry City in January 2023.
Lampard’s new role marks his fifth managerial position, following previous stints with Derby County, Everton, and two terms at Chelsea, including a recent interim role that ended in May 2023. Since then, he has primarily worked as a media pundit.
Lampard will look to lift Coventry out of the relegation battle, with his first challenge set for Saturday in a home match against Cardiff City.
