Freddie Blay, former Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has expressed his support for the sale of a 60% stake in four hotels owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to Minister for Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong.

Blay believes the decision is legitimate, as it was made by the SSNIT board, which includes representatives from Organized Labour.

He questioned the rationale behind Organized Labour’s public protest, stating that if he had the financial means, he would have purchased the hotels himself, as he sees value in the investment.

Blay’s son, Kwaw Blay, has been linked to a company that was shortlisted to buy land near the Labadi Beach Hotels, but Freddie Blay denies any wrongdoing.

In an interview with TV3, Blay emphasized that the SSNIT board’s decision is binding, and he trusts the judgment of the board members.

He added that he would have loved to acquire the hotels if he had the resources, as he believes in their potential.

Blay’s comments come amid criticism from Organized Labour and others who question the sale of the hotels to the Agric Minister.
