A coalition of freight forwarders, customs agents, and trade associations will hold a protest on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, to address exploitative practices by shipping lines operating in Ghana.

Led by the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF), the Association of Customs House Agents of Ghana, the Freight Forwarders Association of Ghana, and the Customs Brokers Association of Ghana, the protest aims to spotlight the excessive charges and practices imposed by shipping companies, which have negatively affected businesses and trade.

Protesters will gather at the GIFF premises in Tema for a peaceful march to the offices of various shipping lines.

The coalition plans to submit petitions to government bodies, including the Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Finance, the Speaker of Parliament, and the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, seeking regulatory intervention to address their concerns.
