The Ministry of Interior has issued a statement confirming that Friday, November 8, 2024, will not be recognized as a public holiday, dispelling recent rumors circulating on social media.

The confusion stemmed from the rescheduling of the National Farmer’s Day celebrations, which typically take place on the first Friday of December.

This year, the celebration has been moved to November to prevent overlap with the upcoming General Elections, leading to speculation that November 8 would be automatically designated as a holiday.

In a press release dated Tuesday, November 5, the Ministry clarified that while the 2024 National Farmer’s Day festivities will take place on Friday, November 8, it will still be a regular working day.

All government institutions, businesses, and schools are expected to operate normally.

Additionally, the Ministry emphasized that Friday, December 6, will continue to be the official public holiday for Farmer’s Day, as mandated by law.

Although the main celebrations will not occur on this date, it remains a statutory holiday for Ghanaians to recognize the vital contributions of farmers across the country.

The Ministry has urged the public to ignore any misleading information regarding the November 8 date and reiterated that all official holiday announcements will be made through recognized government channels.
