A heart-wrenching appeal has been made by Dickson Assan, an accountant and youth career coach, to help a young Ghanaian accountant, Michael Adotey Nyanu, find employment.

Michael had reached out to Dickson on LinkedIn, sharing his struggles and desperation in finding a job, even contemplating suicide if he doesn’t secure employment by August.

Dickson took Michael’s threat seriously, recognizing the frustration and desperation in his message.

He highlighted the challenges Michael faced, including encounters with scammers preying on job seekers.

Dickson appealed to the public to join forces and help Michael secure employment, saving a life and a family from despair.

This story sheds light on the struggles faced by many young Ghanaians. According to the 2023 AHIES report, approximately 1.9 million youth aged 15-35 were Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET) in the third quarter of 2023.

The Greater Accra Region has the highest number of youth NEET, with over half a million young people not engaging in any of the three activities.

It is crucial for key stakeholders, including the government, private sector, educational institutions, and community leaders, to collaborate and provide vital support, resources, and opportunities for the empowerment of young people.

Remember, no matter how tough things get, suicide is not an option; life is precious, and with time, things can improve.
