The funeral of Edward Borketey Sackey, an 18-year-old student from O’Reilly Senior High School, is taking place at his family’s home in Spintex, Accra.

The young man tragically lost his life following an alleged stabbing incident on campus, leaving family and friends in deep mourning.
Edward, a final-year General Arts student, was fatally stabbed by a classmate on Monday, September 2, shortly after completing an exam.
According to a cousin who witnessed the incident, the altercation occurred during a fight with a fellow student named Godwin.
The cousin recounted that Edward had just finished his exam and came to her before the chaos erupted.
“A few minutes later, we heard some commotion and were told that Godwin and Edward were fighting. When I asked what it was about, I was told it was nothing serious,” she explained.
The fight reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over personal belongings. “It was about what each of them had. It started with a claim of lying about possessions, which led to the confrontation,” she added.
The cousin mentioned that Godwin later threatened Edward, saying, “warn your brother or else his blood will flow,” to which she replied that the situation had not escalated to that level.
Tragically, Edward was stabbed three times in the chest and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The cousin noted that Edward had sought help from teachers during the altercation, but they did not intervene.
