Veteran filmmaker Socrate Safo has expressed concern for Ghanaian comedian Funny Face, suggesting that he still struggles with mental health issues and needs assistance.
Speaking on the March 30, 2024, episode of the United Showbiz program on Accra-based UTV, Socrate emphasized the importance of helping Funny Face, noting that there are ongoing psychological and mental health challenges that require immediate attention.
Socrate acknowledged Funny Face’s popularity and personal encounters with him, stating that the comedian often confides in him about his problems.
Despite Funny Face not being an enemy to anyone, Socrate highlighted the necessity of addressing the underlying issues affecting him.
Regarding Funny Face’s past actions, Socrate indicated that a thorough review of his medical records during that period could shed light on whether his behavior was influenced by mental health issues.
He also criticized the lack of supervision during Funny Face’s stay at the mental hospital, questioning why someone under treatment would have access to a phone.

Socrate also raised concerns about the treatment Funny Face received at the facility, suggesting that his status as a celebrity might have influenced how he was managed, potentially affecting his recovery process.
Additionally, Socrate questioned why someone diagnosed with a mental health issue like Funny Face was not restricted from driving, emphasizing the importance of stricter regulations in such cases.
He emphasized that while mental health issues may not be curable, they are manageable, requiring careful monitoring and prevention of access to harmful situations.
Socrate concluded by advocating for stricter regulations concerning individuals with mental health issues or epilepsy, suggesting that they should not be allowed to drive or operate machinery.
He expressed surprise that Funny Face was not advised against driving, calling for more stringent measures to prevent potentially harmful incidents.
