The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has invited the leadership of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) to a meeting on Monday, August 19, 2024.

According to a statement from the FWSC, this meeting was requested by the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations to address ongoing concerns raised by CETAG members.
CETAG launched a nationwide strike on June 14, citing the government’s failure to implement agreed-upon arbitral awards and other conditions of service for its members.

As the strike enters its third month, there have been calls to close the colleges.
However, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has clarified that no such decision has been made yet.
