The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has urged the Civil and Local Governance Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to rethink its planned strike action set for Thursday, November 7, 2024.

The FWSC emphasized the need for dialogue instead of industrial action to effectively address the salary concerns raised by CLOGSAG.
CLOGSAG announced its decision to strike on Monday, November 4, citing the government’s failure to implement a long-promised salary structure.
The association expressed frustration that despite an agreement reached over a year and a half ago, the necessary changes have yet to be enacted, leading to dissatisfaction among civil and local government employees.
In its statement, the FWSC acknowledged the grievances of CLOGSAG but reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving these issues in a manner consistent with the principles of the Single Spine Pay Policy.
This policy aims to ensure fair and standardized pay across different government sectors, which the FWSC believes is crucial for maintaining equity in compensation for public sector workers.
“We wish to emphasise that the government is prepared to engage CLOGSAG in finding lasting solutions to its demands without undermining the principles underpinning the Single Spine Pay Policy.
“We, therefore, urge CLOGSAG to rescind its decision to embark on the strike action and return to the negotiating table for a timely resolution of their concerns,” part of the statement read.
