Buem Lawmaker Kofi Adams has accused the Akufo-Addo administration of failing to tackle the illegal small-scale mining issue (Galamsey).
Buem Lawmaker Kofi Adams has criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for failing to address the illegal small-scale mining crisis (Galamsey), claiming that the current level of environmental damage is unprecedented compared to when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was in power eight or nine years ago.

On TV3’s Key Points on Saturday, September 7, Adams stated, “The leadership of Nana Addo and Bawumia have failed Ghana, and we need to hold them accountable.”
He further emphasized that NDC leaders are committed to fighting galamsey, contrasting their dedication with the perceived failures of the current administration.
His remarks come amid calls from joint health sector unions for an immediate ban on all small-scale mining activities. These unions, including the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Ghana Medical Association, and others, have expressed serious concerns about the adverse effects of galamsey on water bodies.
They reported significant reductions in water production due to pollution and silting caused by illegal mining and urged the government to enhance regulatory enforcement and provide necessary resources to combat the issue effectively.
“All political parties should make public declarations and publish duly signed documents on their commitment to fight illegal and unethical mining activities in Ghana,” the unions added.
