Former England international and BBC Match of the Day pundit Gary Lineker has hailed Ghanaian winger Fatawu Issahaku as a “special player” following his impressive performance that contributed to Leicester City’s thrilling 3-2 comeback victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Issahaku, who came off the bench with Leicester trailing 2-0 at Saint Mary’s Stadium, made an immediate impact.

Just five minutes after his introduction, he assisted Facundo Buonanotte to score, narrowing the gap. He also played a crucial role in winning a penalty, which Jamie Vardy successfully converted.

Issahaku nearly added to the excitement with a curling effort that struck the crossbar, showcasing his attacking prowess.

In his post-match commentary, Lineker expressed his admiration for Issahaku’s talent, saying, “As a Leicester fan, my kids and I always check the team sheet and think, ‘Oh, not again, why isn’t he playing?’ This kid is special.”

Former Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given echoed Lineker’s sentiments, emphasizing Issahaku’s influence during the match. “He is a special talent.

Coming off the bench at 2-0 down, he had more touches in the opposition box in just 31 minutes.

If manager Steve doesn’t start him next time, I don’t think he will be too happy, but he is a brilliant talent,” Given remarked.

Issahaku’s standout performance contributed to a memorable victory for Leicester, with fellow Ghanaian Jordan Ayew netting the winning goal in stoppage time, marking the club’s second league win of the season.

As Leicester prepares to face Nottingham Forest at the King Power next weekend, Issahaku will look to build on his two assists and secure a starting position in the lineup.
