A number of compassionate individuals and organizations have stepped up to assist 20-year-old Fauzia Ali, whose dream of becoming a doctor was nearly hindered by financial challenges.
Unable to afford the six-year medical program at the University for Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale, Fauzia was helping her mother sell roasted plantain in Kumasi.

However, after a report by Citi News highlighted her plight, generous donors came forward to ensure her talent would not go unrecognized.
As a result of this support, Fauzia officially began her academic journey at UDS on Monday, October 28, 2024.
Notable donors included Charles Adu Boahen, the former Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, who, from abroad, contributed funds for her tuition, accommodation, and living expenses.
Other contributors were businessman Ebenezer Felix Bentum, the Iqra Educational Center, JF Halal Investment, and members of the Vandal 93 group.
Additionally, staff from Ecobank Ghana, Muslim employees from the Bank of Ghana, and professionals from the oil and gas sector made substantial contributions.
In a generous offer, the manager of Prestige Hostel in Tamale provided Fauzia with a year of free accommodation.

Former President John Dramani Mahama, who was in the North for campaign activities, also met with Fauzia and pledged his support after hearing her inspiring story.
Thanks to this financial aid, Fauzia was able to cover her admission fees, tuition, and necessary textbooks.
A group of volunteers has even established a special bank account in her name to raise additional funds, not only for Fauzia’s education but also to support other deserving students.
To date, donations have reached GHC 60,560; however, volunteers emphasize that more assistance will be needed for her to complete the six-year program without financial strain.
Expressing her gratitude, Fauzia stated, “Thank you very much. May Allah continue to bless you, and please convey my thanks to them—I am truly grateful. People like them make the dreams of the underprivileged come true. May God replenish their pockets.”
The overwhelming support for Fauzia showcases the power of community action, transforming her narrative from one of struggle into one of hope, ensuring that financial obstacles do not stand in the way of talented young individuals achieving their dreams.
