Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has dismissed claims that he has resigned as the National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), emphasizing that he still holds the position.

Speculation about his resignation emerged following his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama, with reports suggesting he had stepped down from his party role.
However, speaking on Channel One TV’s Face to Face with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Tuesday, February 25, Opare Addo set the record straight, stating, “Let me correct an impression—I have not resigned as the National Youth Organiser of the NDC. I’m still the National Youth Organiser of the NDC. We will have Congress next year [2026].”
“I don’t intend to contest again at Congress, but I currently serve as the National Youth Organiser of the NDC. I still go to the party office.”
Opare Addo’s dual role as both a government minister and a party official has sparked discussions about potential conflicts of interest and whether he can effectively manage both responsibilities.
His decision not to seek re-election in 2026 may signal a shift in focus toward his ministerial duties while opening the door for new leadership within the NDC’s youth wing.
