Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has emphasized the strategic significance of GFA President Kurt Okraku’s candidacy for a position on the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Twum stated that Okraku’s bid offers a valuable opportunity to promote West Africa’s interests and enhance football development across the region.
Okraku has officially filed his nomination for the upcoming CAF Executive Committee elections scheduled for March 2025. Running unopposed, he will represent the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B.
In an interview with Channel One News, Twum highlighted the importance of securing such a position, noting, “Being in that role places you at the heart of decision-making. We recognize that Africa faces numerous challenges, and having a voice at that table is crucial.”
“The Southern Africans look very comfortable, but those of us in the West, East and Central have issues. So, we need a voice that will speak on our behalf and push our agenda. So, I think that if he can win the election, it will give our zone a voice.”
