Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has declared that the government payroll is now ghost-worker-free.
He attributed this achievement to the successful integration of the Ghana Card into the country’s digital system.
In an audio clip shared by GHOne TV, Dr. Bawumia confidently stated that the introduction of the Ghana Card has eliminated ghost workers from the government payroll.
“Thanks to the Ghana Card, we can confidently say that ghost workers are a thing of the past on our government payroll,” he said.
Although the context of his statement is unclear, it’s worth noting that the Ghana Card has become the primary identification card in Ghana.
Furthermore, the Electoral Commission has announced plans to re-introduce a bill in parliament to make the Ghana Card the sole document for citizenship identification in voter registration.
