Black Stars and Fenerbahçe defender Alexander Djiku sustained a thigh strain during Fenerbahçe’s 3-0 victory over Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Friday.

Djiku was substituted by Rodrigo Becao after 61 minutes, and the club’s medical team has confirmed a strained right thigh, which will sideline him for up to two weeks.

Djiku was included in Black Stars manager Otto Addo’s squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

He had also been among the last players to join the team for June’s internationals due to a hand injury.

It remains to be seen whether head coach Otto Addo will call up additional defenders to cover Djiku’s absence or rely on the current defensive lineup, including Abdul Mumin, Mohammed Salisu, Jerome Opoku, and Alidu Seidu.

Ghana will face Angola on September 5 at Baba Yara Stadium before traveling to Morocco to play against Niger on September 9.
