Ghana defender, Mohammed Salisu expected to make EPL debut with Southampton

Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu is likely to make his debut for English side Southampton in the Premier League this month as fixtures pile up ahead of the festive season.

The 21-year old joined Southampton on a four-year deal from Spanish side Real Valladolid in the summer transfer window for a 10 million pounds fee but is yet to feature for the club.

Salisu has been training with the squad but Ralph Hasenhuttl indicated the Ghanaian defender could not be selected for games due to match fitness.

The former Real Valladolid defender has been making steady progress in his fitness and set to be ready to play for the club.

Southampton coach Hasenhüttl  in an interview said that the Ghanian centre-back would feature he hinted that he could be considered alongside the potential returns of Danny Ings and Nathan Redmond.

Sali is also a step further forward in his development, so we have a few more alternatives in the future and this is good,” said Hasenhüttl as per the club’s official website.

“Now is the busiest time of the year, and in the beginning of this time we seem to have everybody back and fit in the team and we need everybody now, this is for sure, because now becomes a busy time.”, he added.
