Ghana has slipped three positions in the latest FIFA World Rankings, released on Thursday, October 24, 2024.

Following a string of poor performances in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, the Black Stars have dropped from 70th to 73rd place, accumulating a total of 1,338 points, down from 1,360.

The team’s recent struggles include a disappointing 2-0 loss in Libya and a goalless draw against Sudan in Accra two weeks ago.

As a result, Ghana is now at risk of elimination from the competition, sitting with just two points from four matches, while Sudan has moved to second place in Group F with seven points.

Despite these setbacks, Ghana remains the 14th ranked team in Africa. Morocco leads the continent at 13th in the world, followed by Senegal (20th), Egypt (30th), Nigeria (36th), Algeria (37th), Côte d’Ivoire (40th), Tunisia (47th), Cameroon (49th), Mali (54th), the Democratic Republic of the Congo (57th), South Africa (60th), Burkina Faso (62nd), Cape Verde (72nd), and then Ghana (73rd).

Ghana’s next matches in the AFCON qualifiers will be against Angola and Niger as they seek to secure their place for the tournament in Morocco in 2025.
