Sixteen (16) people were rescued on Tuesday, November 18, after a head-on collision between a Ford Transit and a Kia Rhino at Nyamebekyere on the Sunyani–Kumasi highway.
The accident occurred at about 5:38 a.m. and prompted a swift response from firefighters at the Bechem Fire Station.
An eight-member rescue team led by STNO II Simon Yeboah extricated all occupants—14 from the Ford Transit (AS 7172-23) and two from the Kia Rhino (AS 3058-X).
The victims, who sustained varying degrees of injury, were transported to the Bechem Government Hospital and PISGAH Advanced Medical Center for treatment.
No deaths were recorded, though both vehicles were extensively damaged.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
