The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has destroyed a large quantity of narcotics under a court order from the Accra Circuit Court.

The destroyed items included 248 fertilizer sacks, 315 wraps, 24 sachets, and 68 compressed slabs of various drugs, along with three medium-sized buckets of heroin.

This destruction is part of the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to enforcing the law and ensuring that illegal substances are properly disposed of after legal proceedings.

Prosper Kingsley Damakah, the Registrar at the Accra Circuit Court, stated that the substances were seized as evidence in cases from 2020 to 2024 and are now being disposed of following court rulings.

“Some of the cases started in 2020. The people were arrested by the Police, charged and brought to court. Judgments have been delivered in the cases’ Mr. Damakah stated.

The narcotics were burned at the shore behind the Black Star Square in Accra, with representatives from the Narcotics Control Commission and the Judicial Service present to witness the event.
