Ghana Police impound 788 motorcycle, riders arrested in major crime crackdown

In a crime-combatting operation, the police have carried out a special operation in the Accra metropolis and arrested 788 motorcycle riders and impounded thier motorcycles.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) and Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Effia Tenge of the Accra Regional Police Command, revealed this in Accra yesterday.

She gave the breakdown information of the motorcycle seized by the police: Weija, 35 motorcycle, Sowutuom, 42, East Legon, 42, Cantonments, 21, Odorkor, 51, Adenta, 33, Nima, 70.

Others are; Ministries, 23, Kpeshie, 35, Ngleshie Amanfro, 18, Ayimensah/Abokobi, 16; Accra Central, 18; LA,25; Anyaa, 40; Mamprobi, 30; Dansoman police, 79, Okpoi Gonno police, 23, Lakeside police, 16, Adabraka police, 9, Madina, 55, Jamestown, 25, Kotobabi, 41, and Sakumono, 24.

In addition, DSP Tenge said, a Togolese, Tony Hounjeoe, was arrested, at Nungua, in Accra.

After he was searched, a pistol, a hacksaw blade, a wheel wrench, a knife, a pair of scissors and 20 suspected counterfeit GH 50.00 banknotes were found on.

DSP revealed that Hounjeoe and two other people were stopped at the Nungua checkpoint, while cruising in a Nissan Primera taxi with the license plate number ER 2343 U.
