Ghana Police Service apprehend man who threatened to harm public officials

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Ibrahim Mohammed, alias “Kanawu,” after a GH¢50,000 bounty was issued for information leading to his capture.

Kanawu was wanted for threatening to harm public officials, including Interior Minister Henry Quartey and Inspector-General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, in a viral video.

He also made allegations about the unsolved murder of lawmaker JB Danquah. The suspect was declared wanted on September 9, 2024, and was arrested on September 11, 2024.

He is currently in police custody and will be processed for court. The police have urged the public to remain calm, assuring that the situation is under control.

This arrest comes as the police work to protect public officials and ensure national security ahead of the general election.
