Ghana Premier League, Division One to resume on October 30th

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has announced that domestic competitive football will resume on Friday, October 30.

This will see a restart of the Ghana Premier League and the Division One.

Matches will be with a quarter of spectators at each stadia to ensure the social distancing protocol as regards coronavirus.

These were announced by President Akufo-Addo on Sunday, September 20 in his nationwide broadcast to apprise the citizenry of measures taken by government in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

Football was among other activities suspended in March in a move to stem the spread of the virus.

Ghana had then recorded its first index cases.

At his last address on Sunday, August 16, the president announced the resumption of trianing for some of the national teams for their international assignments.

“Fellow Ghanaians, with respect to football, after due consultation with the Ghana Football Association, it has been decided that the Ghana Premier League and the Division One Football League will restart on Friday, 30th of October with a few regime of testing of the players, technical and management staff.

“No spectators will be allowed at the training centres and when actual competition resumes, sitting at all stadia will be limited to 25% capacity.”
