The Director of Communications at the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Bright Asempa Tsadidey, has highlighted that the December in GH initiative has drawn a significant influx of international tourists, with events taking place across nearly all regions of the country.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Thursday, December 18, 2025, Mr Tsadidey said the initiative, under the Black Star Experience, was intentionally marketed abroad through roadshows to position Ghana as a prime Christmas destination.

“When you travel through town, you will see that key places have been decorated with the paraphernalia of Christmas. For the first time, almost all the regions have events that are ongoing captured under December in GH calendar. Events for Christmas are not all in Accra,” he said.

He noted that major hotels reported strong bookings, indicating a successful turnout of visitors. “I must say that we have done our bit. The visitors have arrived, and from all the confirmations we have had from the big hotels, almost all of them are full,” he added.

Addressing perceptions that Ghanaians were missing out on the Christmas festivities, Mr Tsadidey explained, “The notion that people are not feeling the Christmas spirit is not entirely the case. It could be that they are not attending the events, so they are not seeing and feeling what they want to experience out of December in GH.”

He said the GTA had made event information easily accessible through the dedicated website, DecemberinGH.com, listing venues, events, and organisers’ contact details.

On improving accommodation and customer service, Mr Tsadidey said the Authority has intensified engagements with hoteliers, organised training programmes nationwide, and partnered with a university in New York to enhance service quality and strengthen Ghana’s tourism brand.
