The Nigerian Football Association has written to FIFA for the game between the Super Eagles and Ghana to be moved to Benin.

According to the NFF, Benin is closer to both countries than Morocco, which is also an option for the first leg encounter.

Nigeria filed a petition against using the Cape Coast stadium for the game on March 25, after the pitch was left in a sorry state following the Independence Day parade.

The National Sports Authority has been working to get the stadium in good conditions for the first leg.

However, it looks too late as reports indicates CAF’s inspection team have rejected the stadium for Ghana’s home game against Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association’s request for an alternative in Baba Yara stadium fell out of the window for making a late venue change.

This means Ghana could play their home game in either Benin or Morocco, and the Nigerians prefer the former.

“We have sent out finding to FIFA and we also applied for a possible change in venue to the Benin Republic which isn’t far from both countries and have a good pitch for a game of that magnitude. We are waiting for a response,” an official of the NFF told owngoalnigeria.
