The Ghanaian 4x100m relay team is set to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The team, made up of Abdul Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, Ibrahim Fuseini, and Joseph Paul Amoah, will run in Heat 2 on Thursday morning at 9:35 am Ghana time.

They will race against strong teams from Jamaica, Canada, China, and others. To reach the final, Ghana needs to perform their best and finish in the top three or achieve one of the fastest times.

Ghana’s relay team is gaining recognition after reaching the finals in the previous Olympic Games in Tokyo.

They qualified for the Paris Olympics due to their strong performance at the World Relays in the Bahamas earlier this year.

Benjamin Azamati, who made it to the semi-finals of the 100m in Paris, and Joseph Paul Amoah were also part of Ghana’s team four years ago.

First-time Olympian Abdul-Rasheed Saminu reached the semi-finals of the men’s 100m in Paris but did not make it to the final. He is now focusing on the relay event, which is Ghana’s last chance for a medal.

Ibrahim Fuseini is competing in the Olympics for the first time, with Isaac Botsio also supporting the team.

Ghana had representation in swimming, but both Harry Stacey and Joselle Mensah did not advance in their events. Debutant high jumper Rose Yeboah also missed the final after failing to clear 1.92m.

The 4x100m relay team has been strong over the years, as shown by their promising performance in Tokyo, where they missed the final due to a baton exchange error.

As the nation eagerly watches, the team is ready to give their all and make Ghana proud.
