In a powerful show of support for Alan Kyerematen and the Afrafranto Movement, the Offinsomanhene, Nana Dwamena Akenten II, has enthusiastically endorsed Mr. Kyerematen’s presidential candidacy.
Speaking from his palace in the Offinso South Constituency of the Ashanti Region, the respected traditional leader compared Kyerematen’s leadership role to that of a butterfly, stating that just as the butterfly aids in the pollination process, Mr. Kyerematen’s leadership will help Ghana to flourish.

Initially, the Offinsomanhene expressed confusion over Kyerematen’s choice of the butterfly as his symbol. “At first, I didn’t understand why Alan chose the butterfly. I thought it was an unusual choice,” he admitted.
However, after reflecting on it, he came to see it as the perfect symbol for Kyerematen’s movement.
“One night as I lay in bed, I realized that it was actually the best symbol Alan could have chosen for his Movement,” Nana Dwamena Akenten II shared.
He elaborated to his sub-chiefs that just as a butterfly is essential for plants to bear fruit, Kyerematen’s leadership is crucial for Ghana’s development. “For any plant to bear fruit, it needs a butterfly to complete the process. The butterfly transfers pollen from one plant to another, enabling it to bear fruit. Without the butterfly, the plant remains barren,” the chief explained.
By using this analogy, the Offinsomanhene declared that Ghana, like a plant waiting to bear fruit, needs Kyerematen to complete its transformation process.
“When I thought deeply about this, I realized that for everything to bear fruit, the butterfly must be responsible. In the same way, when Alan comes, Ghana will bear fruit,” he passionately affirmed.
This endorsement from Nana Dwamena Akenten II adds a significant voice from the Ashanti Region, a crucial political stronghold, to Kyerematen’s increasing support among traditional leaders.
The chief’s comparison of Kyerematen to the butterfly resonates with the Afrafranto Movement’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP), which aims to rejuvenate Ghana’s economy, combat corruption, and create opportunities for the youth.
Currently on a 19-day tour of the Ashanti Region, Kyerematen expressed deep gratitude for the endorsement, recognizing the importance of support from influential traditional leaders.
“For a chief like Nana Dwamena Akenten II, who is well-respected in the Ashanti Region, to understand and align with my vision is an honor. It reinforces that our message of transformation is resonating with Ghanaians from all walks of life,” Kyerematen stated.
The Offinsomanhene’s endorsement follows similar support from prominent chiefs nationwide, emphasizing Kyerematen’s respect for traditional authorities and his promise to involve them in governance.
Under his Great Transformational Plan, Kyerematen has pledged to make chiefs co-trustees of lands and natural resources, establishing an unprecedented partnership between the government and traditional leaders.
As the December 7 polls approach, Nana Dwamena Akenten II’s endorsement is expected to enhance Kyerematen’s popularity, especially in the Ashanti Region, where traditional authorities significantly influence public opinion. With increasing backing from chiefs, the momentum behind the Afrafranto Movement continues to grow.
Kyerematen’s butterfly symbol, once questioned, is now embraced as a potent emblem of transformation. As Nana Dwamena Akenten II aptly noted, “It is the butterfly that makes plants bear fruit, so when Alan comes, Ghana will bear fruit.”
