In a recent interview on Hitz FM, Ghanaian actor and footballer Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, made a bold claim that his transfer to Division One club New Edubease was more lucrative than Asamoah Gyan’s move to Premier League team Legon Cities.

LilWin signed a two-year contract with Legon Cities in October 2021, taking on dual roles as a player and brand ambassador.

However, he only appeared in four matches for New Edubease, according to a 2022 report from Ghanasoccernet.

In contrast, Asamoah Gyan joined Legon Cities in 2020 in a deal rumored to be worth GHC1 million.

Despite this, LilWin boasted that his agreement with New Edubease was financially superior to Asamoah Gyan’s contract with Legon Cities.

“I signed a two-year deal with Edubease, and the club’s owner, a close acquaintance, recognized my talent and invited me to join. He provided a personal trainer, and my skills and popularity added excitement to the league. The amount was substantial, but I prefer not to disclose it,” LilWin said.

LilWin claimed that his earnings from New Edubease surpassed Asamoah Gyan’s earnings from Legon Cities, stating, “In terms of salary and bonuses, no local league player could match me. I avoid specifics to prevent a surge of financial requests, but rest assured, it was a considerable sum.”

Asamoah Gyan’s tenure with Legon Cities was marked by only five appearances during an unfortunate second spell in the domestic topflight.

He attributed his lack of success to persistent injuries, stating, “While with Legon Cities, I grappled with injuries. Whenever I felt in peak condition and poised to score, an injury would sideline me for months.”

After medical consultations, Asamoah Gyan realized that his muscles were exhausted, and a lengthy hiatus was necessary for complete recovery. “My body appeared overstrained and fatigued,” he elaborated in an interview with Dentaa.
