Abubakar Tahiru, a forestry student from Ghana, has made history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the most trees hugged by an individual in one hour.

His incredible accomplishment involved embracing a staggering 1,123 trees within a single hour.

This extraordinary feat was achieved in Auburn, Alabama, USA, on March 25, 2024.

Abubakar, while studying forestry at Auburn University, was driven by his strong commitment to the environment and sustainable methods.

His goal in hugging each tree was not just to set a record but also to highlight the urgent necessity for worldwide sustainability initiatives.

“The most trees hugged in one hour (individual) is 1,123, and was achieved by Abubakar Tahiru (Ghana), in Auburn, Alabama, USA, on 25 March 2024.

“Abubakar is an Auburn University forestry student who is deeply passionate about the environment and sustainable forestry.

He hopes his attempt will spotlight the need for sustainability and inspire a call to global community action,” a publication by Guinness World Records on their website stated.

Over the recent months, numerous individuals from Ghana have endeavored to set various Guinness World Records, engaging in activities such as enduring cooking sessions, singing for prolonged periods, participating in lengthy interviews, and delivering extended speeches.

Although the outcomes of some of these endeavors are still pending, Guinness World Records has already dismissed several attempts due to non-compliance with their established criteria.

Therefore, Tahiru’s accomplishment stands out as a notably important achievement for Ghana.
