Ghanaian midfielder Michael Baidoo scored for Elfsborg, leading them to a remarkable 1-0 victory against Italian giants AS Roma in the UEFA Europa League.
Michael Baidoo, who has been pivotal for Elfsborg since the qualifying stage with three goals and three assists, continued his impressive form in the UEFA Europa League, scoring the decisive goal in a stunning 1-0 victory over Italian giants AS Roma.

This match marked Elfsborg’s first home game in the Europa League group stage since the 2013/2014 season.
The atmosphere at Borås Arena was electric as the Swedish side faced seasoned European contenders Roma, who entered the match with a star-studded lineup and expectations to dominate. However, Elfsborg had other plans.
Right from the start, Elfsborg showcased their determination to defy the odds. Baidoo was a constant threat to Roma, using his pace and agility to challenge the Italian defense.
The breakthrough came just before halftime when AS Roma’s Tommaso Baldanzi handled the ball in the box. After reviewing the incident, the referee awarded a penalty, and Baidoo stepped up to take it. With remarkable composure, he slotted the ball past Roma’s goalkeeper, Mile Svilar.
Despite Roma’s relentless pursuit of an equalizer in the second half, Elfsborg’s defense remained resolute. Goalkeeper Isak Pettersson made several crucial saves, denying Roma’s attackers.
Baidoo’s goal against Roma brought his tally to four goals in seven matches across all competitions and marked his fifth goal in European tournaments.
With their first Europa League victory secured, Michael Baidoo and Elfsborg will face another tough challenge away to Galatasaray, who are currently unbeaten in their last seven matches, recording five wins and two draws.
