Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has clarified that his criticisms of Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Agriculture and owner of Rock City Hotel, are not driven by personal vendetta.

Ablakwa’s opposition stems from the controversial sale of SSNIT’s 60% shares in four hotels to Rock City Hotel, which he exposed and vehemently opposed.
The sale process was eventually discontinued due to public pressure and threats of a strike by Organised Labour.
Ablakwa emphasized his long-standing stance against state capture and the sale of state assets to individuals, citing a pattern of public officials deliberately running down state assets only to acquire them personally.
He questioned why Bryan Acheampong, with his alleged hotelier expertise, hasn’t utilized his influence to improve the hotels while in cabinet, instead waiting until he gains controlling shares.
Ablakwa highlighted the history of failed state asset sales, which have yielded no tangible benefits for the country.
He pointed out that since February 24, 1966, various regimes have engaged in similar sales, only to see public officials exploit them for personal gain.
He argued that if Bryan Acheampong is indeed a skilled hotelier, he should utilize his expertise to benefit the state, not just himself.
Ablakwa’s stance is rooted in his commitment to transparency, accountability, and the responsible management of public assets.
He remains resolute in his opposition to state capture and the exploitation of public assets for individual gain, ensuring that the interests of the Ghanaian people are protected.
