Ghana will have its first appearance at the 2024 Olympic Games on Tuesday, July 30, with swimmer Harry Stacey competing in the men’s 100m freestyle event.

This will be Stacey’s first time at the Olympics and is a major milestone for Ghanaian athletes. He will swim in Heat 4 at 9:27 GMT.
As Ghana’s top swimmer and having performed well at the African Games, Stacey qualified with a wildcard, making his participation a historic moment.
“I’m so excited and honestly I can’t wait. I feel amazing,” Stacey said ahead of the race. “Competitors don’t scare me. I know my place. I’m trying to get faster.
“Calm. I’m used to water. Water knows me and I know water. We are best friends. Once I start racing, I’m happy.”
Stacey aims to achieve a personal best and set a national record. His participation highlights Ghana’s growing presence in Olympic swimming, as he is the second male swimmer to represent the country, following Abeiku Jackson.
