The Republic of Ghana and the Republic of Kenya have a visa-free agreement that enables Ghanaians traveling to Kenya to receive Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) at no cost.

On June 19, 2024, Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration announced that Ghanaians traveling to Kenya would be exempt from paying eTA fees, in line with their existing visa-free regime agreement.

To benefit from this agreement, Ghanaians traveling to Kenya must submit their eTA applications online through (link unavailable) before departing.

The eTA is a requirement for visa-exempt travelers to Kenya, and it can be applied for online.

Once approved, travelers receive their eTA confirmation electronically, which is required for boarding their flight.

The processing time for the Kenyan eTA typically takes up to 10 business days, but travelers are advised to apply early, as processing times may vary.

The Kenyan eTA allows travelers to stay in Kenya for up to 90 days and is valid for tourism purposes.

Required documents for the eTA application include a passport, headshot or selfie, accommodation booking confirmation, and an invitation letter or host ID (if applicable).

Therefore, Ghanaians traveling to Kenya can apply for an eTA online, which is valid for 90 days and exempt from fees under the visa-free regime agreement.

Travelers must apply at least 10 business days before traveling and ensure their eTA is approved and matches their passport information to avoid any issues during boarding.
