President John Dramani Mahama will today, Wednesday, May 7, deliver a national address to update Ghanaians on the progress of his administration’s 120-day social contract.

Having been sworn into office on January 7, today marks exactly 120 days since President Mahama began implementing key promises outlined in the 2024 NDC Manifesto. Out of the 28 commitments made, 19 have been fulfilled, two are currently in progress, and seven remain outstanding.

The outstanding pledges include:

A review of taxes on vehicles

The commencement of the 24-hour economy policy

A ban on illegal mining (galamsey)

A review of the Customs Amendment Act, 2020

Introduction of a bill to streamline government scholarship schemes

Investigations to eliminate vigilante elements within state security agencies

Reopening of investigations into by-election-related killings

Speaking to Citi News on Tuesday, May 6, Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), commended the president’s performance. He stated that President Mahama has already delivered on a majority of his promises and remains committed to completing the rest in due course.

He noted that Ghanaians are largely satisfied with the administration’s performance so far.

“He promised to deliver on certain promises within 120 days, and as we speak now, Ghanaians are applauding him for having delivered almost all the promises he made.

“By the close of Wednesday, we will have delivered all of them,” he stated.

He continued: Ghanaians are experiencing it, they are enjoying the promises. We don’t even need to trumpet it ourselves because you can see some promises in action.”
