Bishop Salifu Amoako, father of the 16-year-old boy involved in the tragic accident that resulted in the deaths of two young girls in East Legon on Saturday, October 12, stated that Ghanaians are unaware of the truth surrounding the incident.

He made these remarks while addressing his congregation at Alive Chapel International on Sunday, October 20, 2024, marking his first public appearance since the tragedy.
“If you’re uncomfortable, just get up and leave. Yesterday, I was in a situation where a woman was discussing the incident with her children. I felt uneasy and told Pastor Dan to open the car so I could sit inside. I couldn’t handle it.
“People don’t know the truth, which is why Ghanaians talk. That’s all they do—talk. Did you hear what I said? In Ghana, people don’t have much; the only thing they have is talk. Talk is cheap. Please refrain from saying things that will add more pain to my life. Stay calm and quiet; the case is still in court.”
Bishop Amoako expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and condemned some church members who physically assaulted a reporter from EIB Network after court proceedings on Thursday.
He stressed the importance of restraint and understanding during difficult times, calling for compassion and dialogue while urging the community to consider all perspectives related to the incident.
“Control yourselves, ACI family. I urge you to have self-control. Some of you came to the court to disgrace me there. You didn’t behave wisely. You have added more battles to my battles already. What you came to do at the court is very disgraceful. You shouldn’t have done that.
“Do you know the damage you have done in my life? Now I am fighting what has happened to me and the media is fighting me. The case is now in the court. We don’t go to court to fight, but we go there to interpret the law.
“Some of you were lucky that you were not arrested. Some of you went there to mess up. By now, you should be in jail. So I don’t expect any one of you, I have not called you to come and fight for me. Now listen to me, I have not called you to come and fight for me,” he stated.
