Ghanaians react to President Nana Addo’s ‘African of the Year’ award

Following last Friday’s award bestowed upon President Nana Akufo Addo by American business magazine, Forbes. Ghanaians have taken to popular social in support and against the award.

It will be recalled that recently, some Ghanaians have been critical of Nana Addo’s government especially in the areas of high cost of basic commodities like: transport, fuel, food stuff and recently, mobile data services.

A user with the handle, @Dejoh36 says:

“How much were you paid to award him this? And by the way who do you think you are to determine ‘African of the year’?”

Another added:

“How much did he pay you ? This man just killed 8 people in the just ended elections.. he spends 56 million cedis on private jet (9.2million USD) @forbesafrica.. he borrowed 285 billion cedis =almost 65 billion usd with nothing to show.. our secondary schools run in shifts”

Critics aside, there were others in support of President Nana Addo, an handle with the moniker: @Castin__ wrote:

“He’s a true leader, years to come Ghana and Africa will look back to in admiration of his leadership of service. Congrats Mr. President, @NAkufoAddo

Another user, @Pantino11 listed out ‘some achievements’ under the Nana Addo’s presidency:

Aside retweets from the President’s account. There hasn’t been any comments from the government or the ministry of information about the award.
