Kofi Okyere Darko, a media personality known as KOD, asserts that the power crisis, commonly referred to as ‘dumsor,’ was a major factor in Ghanaians’ decision to vote against then-incumbent President John Dramani Mahama.

The crisis, which worsened in 2015, significantly disrupted industries and small businesses, leading to slowed economic growth and increased unemployment.

KOD believes this issue was the main reason for the NDC’s loss in the 2016 general elections.

However, he also holds that Mr. Mahama deserves another chance in the upcoming December elections.

“The reason people voted against John Mahama in 2016 was because we had experienced dumsor…I think that he ought to be given another opportunity, another chance,” he stated.

He further added, “For me, it is going to be a continuation of the things that he started in the first four years of his term in office. We saw where Ghana was. We see where we are now.”
