Expedite the signing of the Affirmative Action Bill, former broadcast journalist Shamima Muslim urged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, emphasizing the need for swift implementation.

Speaking on TV3’s Big Issue on August 1, Muslim, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stressed that the President must demonstrate his commitment to the bill’s implementation to regain the trust of the women’s movement.

To underscore the importance of prompt action, Muslim suggested that the President’s office take the lead in implementing the bill, allocating sufficient resources from the 2 billion Cedis already budgeted for the office.

By doing so, the President can showcase his dedication to the cause in the remaining months of his term.

The Affirmative Action Bill, passed by the Eighth Parliament on July 30, marks a significant milestone after years of deliberation.

Muslim’s call to action emphasizes the need for the President to prioritize the bill’s implementation, ensuring its provisions are effectively executed to benefit the intended beneficiaries.
