The Black Satellites clinched an exciting 2-1 win over Ivory Coast in the WAFU Zone B Championship in Togo, securing their place in the upcoming U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

This victory marks a major achievement for Ghana’s young players, who now have the chance to compete against Africa’s finest teams in the U-20 AFCON.
Despite a challenging start with a 2-2 draw against Benin on opening day, the 2021 AFCON champions rallied to earn their qualification for the prestigious tournament, after missing out on the previous edition.
The team showed resilience and determination, defeating a tough Ivorian side and demonstrating growth and teamwork under the guidance of coach Desmond Ofei.
Ghana controlled possession and generated numerous scoring opportunities, ultimately securing the win with two well-executed goals.
Having qualified for the AFCON, the Black Satellites aim to capture their fifth title, last won in 2021, and will also strive to qualify for the 2025 U-20 World Cup in Chile, a tournament Ghana has missed since 2015.
Following Sunday’s victory, the Black Satellites have reached the WAFU Zone B final, where they will face either Nigeria or Niger in pursuit of the trophy, which Ghana last claimed in 2020.
