Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stated that the party’s 24-Hour Economy policy will tackle some of the economic challenges and create jobs for the youth.

Speaking to members of the NDC Professionals Forum at the University of Cape Coast on Monday during her 3-day campaign tour of the Central Region, she highlighted that Ghana is in a severe economic crisis and requires immediate solutions.

“We don’t have money, our currency is where it is heading to, which is not a good place, we can’t pay our debt and we are in a crisis worse than we imagined”, the NDC’s Running Mate stated.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated that, given the high unemployment rate in Ghana, the NDC’s 24-Hour Economy policy and the National Apprenticeship program are immediate solutions.

She noted that the unemployment crisis is causing NDC Flagbearer John Dramani Mahama considerable concern, which is why the party has proposed these measures to create decent jobs for Ghanaians.

“Some people claiming to be economists are deliberately saying it won’t work and the NDC hasn’t thought through it well.

But interestingly, the same people are now saying, their government is already implementing the policy”, she said.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated that political campaigns should focus on sharing ideas and urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to present their plans for Ghanaians.

She criticized the NPP for spreading falsehoods, saying that “one Cedi, two Cedis mobile phones” are not substantial policies.

She encouraged Ghanaians to vote in large numbers for John Dramani Mahama in the December 7 general elections to allow him to fulfill his promise of creating jobs for the unemployed youth.
