Ghana’s Paralympic team has gone missing in other Schengen states after arriving in Norway to prepare for the games.

An 11-member team did not register or participate in a competition scheduled for late April in Norway.

According to a document released by the National Security Authority on July 3, 2024, and reviewed by 3Sports’ Nana Antwi, a team member was apprehended and detained by Norwegian security officials in late April while attempting to travel to Sweden.

The document also revealed that George Gyamfi Gyasi, the team coach, collapsed and was admitted to Oslo University Hospital, where he later died on May 17, 2024.

The Norwegian embassy in Accra, “has issued alerts to other Schengen and West Diplomatic Missions in Accra to help apprehend and repatriate the team members.”

The search for the missing team members is currently underway.
