Jacqueline Afful, Managing Director of Appointed Time Printing Press, has assured that Ghana’s printing industry is well-prepared to handle the printing needs of political parties for the upcoming general elections.

Her comments come in response to reports that the major political parties, the NDC and NPP, are opting to print their campaign materials in China rather than using local services.
On the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, August 13, Afful highlighted that printing in Ghana is often more cost-effective than printing overseas.
“When you give them the price before they get to know that sometimes it is cheaper here. As we speak, a T-shirt from China with a print is about $1.35, which is around FOB (Free on Board); before you pay for freight and then you come and pay duties and taxes here to clear at the port.
Now, we know that when you want to print from China you will not be looking at a 20-footer container or a 10,000 or 5,000.
“The reasons why they do, some will tell you that it is their business partners and they have done business with who are sponsoring.
Then we say that we have the same capacity and are currently even cheaper than China. So, the question still lingers on our minds as to why it is so,” she stated.
