The Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Limited, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has firmly warned his employees not to participate in the upcoming strike called by Organised Labour. In an interview on Oyerepa FM on October 8, Jumah declared that any worker who joins the strike will face immediate dismissal.

He emphasized that the reasons for the strike are unrelated to GIHOC and urged employees to refrain from joining the industrial action. “If you choose not to come to work and join the strike, I will sack you. If you participate, you can collect your salary from Organised Labour instead. Do we not have labor laws in this country?” he stated.
Jumah further asserted that the issues leading to the strike are national concerns and not specific to GIHOC.
“Let this be a national concern, not a GIHOC concern… If you follow them, then you follow them at your own risk. We are wise people at GIHOC,” he stressed.
Despite President Akufo-Addo’s request for more time to address their grievances during a meeting on October 4, Organised Labour has resolved to proceed with the strike on October 10.
Spokesperson Joshua Ansah reiterated their position, stating that the planned strike would go ahead if the government does not take action to ban illegal mining.
The situation continues to develop as various stakeholders respond to the impending strike.
