GITFiC AfCFTA tertiary student club inaugurated at university of Lome, Togo

The Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) has started the GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club at the University of Lomé in Togo.

The event was led by a Ghanaian team, including Prof. Rosina Kyerematen from the University of Ghana, who was the chairperson.

Other key figures at the event included Tsonam Cleanse Akpeloo from the Association of Ghana Industries, the head of the Economics and Management Faculty at the University of Lomé, and the CEO of GITFiC.

The Special Guest at the event was the 1st Vice President of the University of Lomé.

The launch of the GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club is a major step in promoting academic discussion and exchange about the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) within the academic community.

The goal of this initiative is to provide a platform for students to engage in meaningful discussions, share knowledge, and gain insights from research on AfCFTA and its impact on regional integration and trade in Africa.

Chairperson Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, in her keynote address, highlighted the club’s significance in academia.

She emphasized its role in promoting innovation, critical thinking, and advancing knowledge on regional integration, with the goal of creating a more equitable and interconnected Africa.

The GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club will provide students with practical learning opportunities through seminars, workshops, and collaborations.

This will give them valuable insights into regional trade agreements and help enhance their skills.

Mr. Tsonam Cleanse Akpeloo expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, saying:

“This club is a strategic platform for developing future leaders who will drive sustainable growth across African nations.

By leveraging the expertise and diverse perspectives within our academic community, we can collectively work towards achieving AfCFTA’s goals.”

The launch of the GITFiC AfCFTA Tertiary Student Club at the University of Lomé marks the start of a new phase in studying AfCFTA and its potential to change Africa’s economic landscape.
