The Coalition of La Associations and the Ga Adangme Coalition against Land Injustice have given the government a two-week ultimatum to instruct the Minister of Defence to return their lands.

They have warned that if the lands are not released, they will begin occupying the “Kpletso” lands to start development in September.
The La traditional authority and youth protested against what they called the unethical seizure of stool lands.
Hundreds of people, mainly youths, marched from the La Market Complex through the township to deliver their petition to the President at the Flagstaff House.
After a peaceful protest, the leaders presented their petition to the Deputy Chief of Staff, Emmanuel Adumuah-Bossman.

Spokesperson for the La Associations, Jeffrey Tetteh, wants government to hand over their lands and compensate them.
“People of La have over the years called on successive governments, including your administration, to ensure that some of these lands are released to the people of La. It is our humble expectation that our request will be given the utmost priority within the next couple of weeks”, he stated.
He reiterated plans to embark on series of protest if they don’t hear from the government soon, “we have informed the police of a series of demonstrations and other actions should we not get some favourable response in the next two weeks”, he said.

The Deputy Chief of Staff Emmanuel Adumuah-Bossman, acknowledged the group’s compliance to order and promised action on their petition.
“I will relay this information to the president. If the president has given a directive or an order, it is to be implemented as he has directed. So I will draw his attention and what needs to be done, I’m sure it will be addressed”, he assured.
